The 'Just In Time Teaching' training has been the most beneficial tool for me... I use the strategy that Barb suggested...this strategy really supports me to stay calm and present in the moment rather than feeling triggered. Being in the TCB Club has given me confidence because I know that when I have a challenging situation, there is a group of like-minded teachers and experts who can give me advice and ideas. I have especially benefited from the "Yes, and..." idea of accepting children's play invitations to help form relationships and extend play.
The TCB Club has given me a new appreciation for puppets. I bring a “friend” out and the children’s eyes light up. They want to interact more and also pay more attention at story time. This group has also helped me find my calm. I’m better able to deal with difficult situations. Just the other day I helped one of my kids work through some big emotions. It wasn’t easy, but I just kept thinking “I’ve got this” and in the end I did.
